On 29th March, 1915, the 2nd Royal Dublin Fusiliers of 10 Brigade, 4th Division were relieved from the line around the Steenbecque Post at Ploegsteert, Belgium and on 1st April were in billets at La Hutte before returning to the Douve trenches on 2nd April. According to records John Buckley was killed on 1st April but there is no indication in the battalion diary as to the cause of his death. He may have been on a work party, temporarily attached to another unit or perhaps the date of his death was incorrectly recorded. |
